University of Birmingham Library Services is committed to supporting the publication of quality journals. We operate in line with the University of Birmingham’s overarching framework around Resarch Integrity.
Peer Review
University of Birmingham Library Services requires that all research output is thoroughly peer-reviewed by external reviewers. Publications of a commentary or opinion nature may not be sent for external peer review but will be subject to editorial review and revisions. We require the journals we support to adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for best practice.
Open Licenses
All University of Birmingham Library Services published content is released under open licenses from Creative Commons. We believe that only CC BY meets the requirements for true open access and prefer CC0 for open research data.
Indexing
Our published content is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This means that all our references are made available so that citations can be tracked by the publishing community. All of our article metadata is openly available for harvesting by indexing services via OAI-PMH
Research Data
University of Birmingham Library Services encourages authors to cite research objects supporting their publications and make them openly available where possible in line with the University of Birmingham’s wider Research Data Management Policy.
