Dr Laura D’Olimpio is Associate Professor of Philosophy of Education at the University of Birmingham, UK and co-founder and co-editor of the Journal of Philosophy in Schools. Her first book, 'Media and Moral Education: a philosophy of critical engagement' (Routledge, 2018) won the 2018 Philosophy of Education Society of Australasia’s annual book prize. Her second book, 'The Necessity of Aesthetic Education' is forthcoming with Bloomsbury and she is currently co-editing Educating Character Through the Arts, forthcoming with Routledge. Michael Hand is Professor of Philosophy of Education and University Director of Postgraduate Research at the University of Birmingham. He is Chair of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain and Chair of Governors at Kings Heath Primary School. He edits the IMPACT pamphlet series and the Bloomsbury Philosophy of Education book series.

Dr. Claire Cassidy is a Reader in the School of Education at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. She is the course leader of the Postgraduate Certificate in Philosophy with Children and has responsibility for the Philosophy with Children (PwC) element of the EdD(PwC). Claire has practised practical philosophy with children, young people and adults for thirty years in a range of settings, including schools, secure units, cafes, pubs, colleges and universities. In addition to the Masters-level training through the PgCertificate in PwC, she provides short training courses nationally and internationally. The range of people who undertake the training include teachers, early years practitioners, authors, business people, religious ministers, those working in youth justice, and others who have an interest in promoting philosophical dialogue. Claire’s research interests coalesce around three main topics: Philosophy with Children, children’s human rights and human rights education, and philosophy of child and childhood.

Megan Jane Laverty Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She teaches graduate courses on philosophy of education, ethics and education, and aesthetics and education. Her primary research interests are the history of philosophy of education, moral philosophy and its significance for education, and philosophy for/with children and adolescents. Laverty has published in such journals as Education and Culture, Educational Theory, Journal of Philosophy and Education, Studies in Philosophy and Education, and Theory and Research in Education. She is the author of Iris Murdoch’s Ethics: A Consideration of her Romantic Vision (Bloomsbury, 2007) and the editor of two pre-college philosophy textbooks with Oxford University Press: What’s in an Issue (1997) and What’s at Issue Now (2000). She co-edits the Philosophy for Children Founders Series (Routledge) with Maughn Rollins Gregory, which includes, In Community of Inquiry with Ann Margaret Sharp: Philosophy, Childhood, and Education (2017) and Gareth B. Matthews, A Child’s Philosophy (2022). She is co-editor, With David T. Hansen of the five-volume series A History of Western Philosophy of Education (Bloomsbury, 2021). Together with René V. Arcilla, she edits the series, Philosophies of Education in Art, Cinema and Literature (Bloomsbury). As well as co-editing special issues of Teachers College Record and Educational Theory, Laverty has contributed chapters to such award-winning books as Teaching with Reverence: Reviving an Ancient Virtue for Today’s Schools (Palgrave, 2012) and Listening to Teach: Beyond Didactic Pedagogy (SUNY Press, 2015). Laverty is a dedicated teacher of graduate students, having sponsored over twenty-five dissertations, served on at least seventy dissertation committees, and supervised approximately seventy master's theses.

Grace is P4C Director at SAPERE, the national charity supporting philosophy for children, colleges and communities (P4C) where she leads on philosophy-related strategy, advocacy, training, content, community, external relationships and quality assurance. She is also founder and MD of Thinking Space and has engaged thousands of children and adults in philosophical conversations as well as offering professional training for facilitators who wish to do the same. Grace is also a PhD student at UCL Institute of Education where she is writing a thesis on ethics and education. She regularly presents and publishes on both her educational practice and academic research. As a Teaching Fellow at The University of Leeds, she previously led an innovative outreach programme that supports teachers and school children and enables philosophy students to use their skills in the community. She lives in Sheffield UK with her husband and young sons.

Dr. Amber Strong Makaiau is a Specialist at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UHM) School of Teacher Education, the Director of the Hanahau’oli School Professional Development Center, the Director of Curriculum and Research at the UHM Uehiro Academy for Philosophy and Ethics in Education, and the Director of the Progressive Philosophy and Pedagogy MEd Interdisciplinary Education, Curriculum Studies Program.
